Naturopathy

Naturopathy is based on the principle of the body’s vitality, or vital force. This states that each person has the ability to heal themselves, and when the body is out of balance it becomes unwell. Naturopaths use diet and lifestyle changes along side herbs, vitamins, minerals, and homeopathics to balance the body and thus, heal it.

Jackie Arbuckle:

Jackie is a naturopath with many years experience treating patients in the inner northern suburbs of Melbourne. Along side her naturopathy degree; she also has degrees in Applied Science (Human biology) and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. Jackie has also worked in health and cancer research at Melbourne University, Deakin University and the Cancer Council Victoria. This has given her an excellent background in science and research which enhances her naturopathic practice.

Jackie sees a wide variety of patients with health difficulties such as digestive problems; food intolerances; stress, anxiety and fatigue; hay fever and sinus problems; menopause; chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia; high blood pressure and high cholesterol; and rheumatoid arthritis just to name a few.

Jackie also loves treating couples before they become pregnant, making them as healthy as they can be before conception, and then also working with women once they are pregnant, ensuring their pregnancy is as healthy as possible. A natural extension of this is her treatment of infants and children, who respond really well to naturopathic consultations.

What to expect from a naturopathic consultation:

The initial consultation takes 60-90minutes. Jackie goes through the person’s health history in detail, as well as asking them about their diet and other lifestyle factors. She also uses iridology to help her understand the patient further. Most patients love the iridology analysis and they often learn a lot about themselves in the process.

The subsequent follow-up consultations are 30 minutes and are usually spaced 4 weeks apart.

Jackie is very practical and will come up with a health plan that is realistic and works for the patient. Jackie makes diet and lifestyle suggestions first and then adds in herbs and nutrients where they are needed for healing. Jackie works closely with pharmacist John Silvery, where she prescribes nutrients and herbs that are stocked in the pharmacy, which is located downstairs from AllMed.
